The Arts Council of Midland’s mission is “enriching lives with the arts through community-wide advocacy, education, outreach and promotion.” Our goals are to serve as the focal point of advocacy, coordination, promotion, and scheduling of the arts in Midland; to advance the arts in Midland through Subgranting to qualified local arts organizations; to be of economic benefit to Midland; and to facilitate art education.

Art in the Park –
This program was begun in 1998 as an outgrowth of CityArt. Each year, four sculptures are placed in Windlands Park and remain throughout that year. Now in its 13th season, Art in the Park is a collaborative effort between ACM and the City of Midland/Parks and Recreation Department.

Artist Community Market-
Begun in 2017, Artist Community Market is an annual event for the Arts Council.

Celebration of the Arts –
This weekend tribute to the visual and performing arts is designed to benefit the entire community, to increase tourism, and to raise funds for Arts Council’s operating budget. COA includes a Friday evening Preview Party (typical attendance is 600 people); Festival activities, 65 visual artists, Arts Experience area for children and people of all ages with hands-on activities, take away projects, demonstrations and displays and performance stages. Saturday evening brings an outdoor Street Concert/Dance of two to three bands performing for a crowd that usually approaches 3500 people.


Subgranting –
Through this program, the Arts Assembly grants funds to eligible arts projects and organizations in Midland. As of September 2015, ACM has awarded over $2.1 million in Subgrants in twenty-six years.

Quarterly Exhibitions series featuring regional artists.

Midland Marquee/Calendar of Events –
This calendar of cultural events is published weekly in the Midland Reporter-Telegram and on our web site; a yearly calendar of events is maintained by the Council to minimize scheduling conflicts among Midland’s arts organizations.
